COFFEE HUNTERS STORY
In 2008, when I was the search for a prime-class field around the base of Santa Ana Volcano, I had a fateful meeting with the Selva Negra Farm. Comparing to other varieties, these coffee trees had the largest cherries I have ever seen and a very sweet mucilage trickle down when I picked up with my fingers. In this area, I was instantly fascinated by the mysterious coffee known as “Kenya”. However, due to the low productivity, the owner was trying to switch it to avocado plantations. I persuaded the owner to leave the trees explaining to him that we have to protect and increase this variety to introduce it to Japan. Later on, the Kenya that grew on these trees, debuted in Japan as “Grand Cru Café Selva Negra”. Since its release, this coffee captivated many coffee fans with its unique strong but delicate flavor. Since it's packed with mucilage, we anticipated that it would be possible to make delicious coffee by the natural processing method and we fully prepared to challenge ourselves for the 2018 harvest.
