COFFEE HUNTERS STORY

Antigua, means “ancient” in Spanish, and it is a beautiful city surrounded by three volcanoes and where remnants of the colonial-era still remain. Antigua has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979. It was in 1890 when Salvador Falla Santos emigrated from Spain and opened his farm in this renowned coffee producing region. The Falla family has been able to protect the farm for more than a century since then. The successors of the farm have always received lengthy training from their predecessors before their retirement, to inherit their experiences, techniques and family credo. The family always produced the best quality coffee over the years not letting themselves misled by the volatility of coffee markets. This coffee farm opened the eyes of the “Coffee Hunter” José Y. Kawashima and led his focus on coffee quality. This is their fine Bourbon coffee grown in elevated lands at 2,000m above sea level.

2020

A captivating fresh acidity and rich aroma bursts out in the first sip. The sweetness then follows gradually and elegantly. The rich mouthfeel is reminiscent of Western-style sweets and the variety of flavors creates an exquisite balance.

2019

Starting with a toasty aroma like cookies and biscuits, this coffee provides a thick, strong body with a gentle ripple of fresh flowers leading into an exquisite balance. Its drinkability concludes with a feel of satisfaction and a desire to have more.

2018

Full of fruity flavor. It has a beautiful, clean and fresh acidity. The aftertaste is sweet and sour, yet it has a scent of caramel. The intensity of flavor is like if the 2008 crop had been resurrected.

2017

Thick, caramel-like flavor with an aroma hinting of strawberry-like acidity. The sweetness, texture, and aftertaste resemble condensed milk.

2016

Overwhelming sweetness with a flavor of milk chocolate and a hint of peaches in the aroma. It seems to melt on your palate and offers a delightfully expansive aftertaste.
