COFFEE HUNTERS STORY

Growing the Caturra cultivar of the Arabica variety at high elevation is not common practice, but this coffee grown at an altitude of 1,700m uncover its unknown potential. This Caturra completely changed “COFFEE HUNTER” José Y. Kawashima’ s perception toward the cultivar.
The third-generation owner, Ricardo Koyner produces this outstanding coffee by blending modern agricultural techniques with the traditional coffee production he inherited from his family. Koyner graduated from the Panamerican Agricultural University Zamorano, one of the most prestigious schools in Central America. Koyner also graduated from the college of agriculture and life sciences at The University of Florida and continued on to a master’ s degree in environment and development studies and business administration. Blessed by the nature of the Volcan Baru, Kotowa Estate cultivates coffee together with the indigenous community while protecting biodiversity.
